Embedded Amplifier Photo Sensors

Photoelectric sensors operate by detecting a change in the quantity and quality of a transmitted energy source, usually provided by a Red or infrared LED. This common feature allows the Photoelectric Sensor to provide non-contact operation. The combination of non-contact operation, small size and many sensor modes, make it easy to find the proper sensor for almost any application.

Background Suppression sensors illuminate the detection object and the reflection is detected by the difference in light angles to and from the sensor. Unlike diffusion reflective sensors, this group of sensors incorporates circuitry and optics to reduce or eliminate variations in received signal strength caused by: material on the lens, quality and variations in the material or color of the object being detected, etc.

Color sensors operate by sensing the reflected light of internal RGB LED (red, green, blue) illuminators and comparing the reflected light with the illumination light to derive a high quality, high confidence signal corresponding to the actual color of the object being detected. Repeatability and/or deviation from a specific value are key elements to this sensors use in process control. Variations of this sensor use a Halogen or tungsten light source or external illumination. Applications include, fruit sorting based on color, textile, or thread identification, color verification of self-illuminating objects, etc.

The mark sensor was developed to detect a specific mark, change of color, or other process indication mark or bar. These units are used in the detection of labels on backgrounds, printing systems, etc where color and or height can influence the process operation. The optical axis match is easy, the detection accuracy is greater than the diffuse reflection type. These units are available in Red, Green, and Blue illumination and can be very color specific or general purpose, as needed. These sensors are primarily used in the Packaging, Labeling, Printing and textile industries, but can be used anywhere specific mark detection is needed.

AC/DC Power photo sensors were developed to make use of the available power and are the majority of models are self-switching between AC and DC and self-regulating from 24 VDC to 240 VAC. These units provide relayed or Triac outputs and many can be used as direct inputs to control mechanisms. Advanced circuitry allows for detection distances for up to 30 meters without the use of laser components. AC power allows for a wide range of applications such as car washes, exposed vehicle detection systems, conveyor detection in unusual environments such as frozen fish. This group comprises the most process flexible of all groups.
